While the people in the bigger cities on the coast of the River Plate mostly live a modern life style you can still find real “gauchos”, the South American “cowboys”, leading a more traditional country life in the interior of Uruguay. Uruguayans are a kind and welcoming people with a great love for “mate”, a traditional South American caffeine-rich infused drink, “asado” (BBQ), carnival and of course football. When you first arrive in Uruguay you will be surprised to see people walking in the streets or waiting on the bus with their “mate” in their hand and thermos flask tightly tucked under their arm.

This tour is oriented for wild life, animals and nature lovers. Start by visiting the city of Buenos Aires, gateway for entering Argentina and its vast and diverse regions. Continue to Bahia Bustamante, a seaside village to enjoy wild life up close with boat rides, biking, trekking and 4WD rides in this private wildlife sanctuary. Continue to the city of Puerto Madryn, a small town facing the sea from which you will visit Peninsula Valdes to see the great star of the area, the Southern White Whale, and the rich wildlife all along the Peninsula (foxes, sea lions, sea elephants and more!). Also visit Punta Tombo penguin rockery to meet the lovely Magellan Penguins up close and learn all about them! Finish this tour by visiting one of the Wonders of the World: Iguazu Falls! Natural Heritage by UNESCO and one of the most amazing places on earth, Iguazu Falls is the favorite of locals and foreigner travelers. Over 250 waterfalls, the jungle ambience and the magnificent Devil´s Throat are some of the reasons to visit this National Park. The last highlight of this tour is visiting Esteros del Ibera, wildlife at its most! Enjoy your stay at an exclusive lodge surrounded by nature and try different activities to contemplate local flora and fauna in the unique environment of Esteros. Return to Buenos Aires and spend a night in the city before heading back home!

We start cycling in a wild rugged area of the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina National Park, on the west coast. Then, we cycle along the popular south coast, the true Algarve, including very picturesque spots closer to the Spanish border! Our days have lots of variety with visits to places such as the Fisherman’s museum, the cape of Sagres and several fortresses. The Portuguese Sea Discoveries of the 15th century are always present. Besides cycling and enjoying the amazing scenery, we invite you also to learn about the local economy. One of the learning highlights is a visit to an organic farm where its fruit is transformed in jams, chutneys, cakes, and chocolates. The salines visit is another one and, to a sweet end, a visit to a pastry factory where you will have the chance to learn to bake some cakes and in the end taste them (cooking on van guided and guided tours only)! The beaches are beautiful, on the first days with fun waves and impressive steep cliffs on the background while the last days offer us quiet and crystal blue waters. You will find out that even in the more touristy Algarve areas there are still hidden away empty beaches.

You will be cycling the full 798 kilometers of the classic Camino de Santiago “Camino Frances”. Each day´s cycling will be different, from the high peaks of the Pyrenees, to the deep valley of the Ebro River in La Rioja, from the vast plains of Castilla´s high plateau to the mountains of northern Leon and on to the green mountainous region of Galicia. Your final pilgrim destination is the vibrant, mythical city of Santiago de Compostela.

It’s a cycling tour combining the convenience of the accommodation at our lovely country house, cycling through Alentejo and great weather for most of the year. The days are all very different and rides include visits to wineries, artisans and producers of local specialities. You will feel rewarded with the high knowledge of your local guide and the gorgeous landscape around our country guesthouse. Even if you choose the self-guided option, we will meet you every day to help you organise.  You don’t have to pack and unpack every day. Every morning you will meet your guide after a delicious breakfast and indulge on a beautiful bike ride.

The Castles and Wine bike tour will live up to its name.  Most nights will be spent either in a castle or an old convent, now beautiful charming hotels.  Along the way the great ancient city of Évora, world heritage site, and small fortified hamlets will tell the stories of wars with moors and Spain. The border is right there on the other side of Alqueva, the biggest artificial lake in Europe.  The loveable Alentejo people, at first shy, the Mediterranean typical gastronomy along with the wonders of cork, marble, olive oil and other crafts will enrich your experience. And the wine… well come and judge for yourself…  All this in safe backroads with some easy bits off the asphalt riding, with us by your side.
