An easy route to appreciate all the charms of Alsace. Discover the traditional Alsace of postcards but also the authentic Alsace, with its more unusual and still unknown facets. This tour will take you to the crossroads of Roman, Gothic and Baroque architecture, to museums with priceless treasures, to the forests of the Vosges, to the peat bogs of the Ried and to a sparkling vineyard. Highlights include the cities of Strasbourg and Colmar, the Alsace Wine Route and its typical villages and the nature and landscape by the Rhine.
Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival in Strasbourg
Arrival in Strasbourg, settling at the hotel and free time to explore the town, its sumptuous Gothic cathedral and its historic center classified as a world heritage site
Day 2
Strasbourg – Selestat Area 26 or 55 km
You will leave Strasbourg following the Rhone to Rhine canal to reach Osthouse or Sélestat, rich in a remarkable old architectural heritage.
Day 3
Selestat Area – Colmar 65 or 49 km
After visiting the beautiful baroque abbey of Ebersmunster, you will cross the traditional villages of the Ried. This area bordered by the Ill and the Rhine is crisscrossed by multiple waterways where a rich fauna and flora flourish. After following the canal, you will arrive in Colmar, a city of art with an exceptionally well-preserved historical center.
Day 4
Colmar – Mulhouse Area 65 km
The bike path will take you from Colmar to Neuf-Brisach, a Vauban stronghold listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will continue your way south to reach the village of Ottmarsheim and its beautiful 12th century Roman church. Through the Hardt forest and along the Rhone-Rhine Canal, you will arrive in Mulhouse, a city that dynamically combines tradition and modernity. This industrial and technical city awaits you with its famous automobile museum.
Day 5
Mulhouse Area – Guebwiller 35 km
The itinerary will take you by roundabout ways to Guebwiller, a wine village lodged at the foot of the Grand Ballon. You will first drive to Ungersheim to see the Ecomusée d'Alsace, an open-air museum organized like an Alsatian village from the beginning of the 20th century. The abbey of Murbach, which was one of the richest and most influential abbeys of the Holy Roman Empire, could well be your favorite of the day.
Day 6
Guebwiller - Riquewihr Area 50 km
You will take the Route des Vins, a mythical route with exceptional landscapes and wine cities animated by passionate winegrowers. At the foot of the Vosges Mountains, it will make you discover charming villages that make the fame of the Alsatian great wines: Eguisheim, Turckheim, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr.
Day 7
Riquewihr Area– Obernai Area 50 km
Still along the Wine Route, you will discover the villages of Hunawihr, Ribeauvillé, Bergheim, Andlau and its Roman abbey, before arriving in Obernai or Barr. Each of these villages offers numerous possibilities for visits dedicated to biodiversity, culture and local folk arts and traditions.
Day 8
Obernai Area – Strasbourg 40 km
In Rosheim, you will discover the Saints-Pierre-et-Paul church, one of the jewels of Alsatian Roman architecture. In Molsheim, you will join the bicycle path of the Bruche canal that will lead you to the heart of Strasbourg. Departure or extension of stay.
