Itineraries

Day 1

Colmar

Arrival in Colmar, installation in your hotel and free time to explore the town. The undeniable charm of the medieval alleys of its exceptionally preserved historic center will give you a beautiful welcome.

Day 2

Round trip to the famous wine villages 44 or 61 km

Today you will have the choice between two variants, depending on the number of kilometers you wish to cover. You will leave Colmar heading north, on a route that will unveil charming wine villages that make the fame of the Alsatian great wines: Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr, Riquewihr, Kientzheim. The longer variant allows you to discover Turckheim and Eguisheim, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France.

Day 3

Colmar – Munster 42 km

Today you take the direction of Munster by Turckheim and Zimmerbach. The green valley of Munster is famous for its cheese of the same name, one of the many culinary emblems of the region. Enjoy it with caraway seeds and a glass of Pinot Gris or Gewurtztraminer. A pure delight! You will return to Colmar by the bicycle path that winds through the valley.

Day 4

Breisach am Rhein 71 km

This stage is dedicated to the discovery of the villages of the Rhine valley. You will reach Neuf-Brisach and plunge into the history of the 17th and 18th century by visiting this Vauban stronghold listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will then cross the Rhine to reach Breisach am Rhein in Germany. You will be able to admire its cathedral, its city center and its picturesque streets. The Rhine Canal cycle path will then take you back to the French side, to Marckolsheim, where you can visit a fortified structure of the Maginot Line. Return to Colmar along the canal's bike path.

Day 5

Colmar – Guebwiller - Mulhouse 51 or 78 km + train

From Colmar, you will ride along the south of the Alsace Wine Route to Guebwiller. From there, you can either go to Bollwiller and take a train to Mulhouse, or continue riding to Ungersheim to visit the Ecomusée d'Alsace, an open-air museum organized like an early 20th century Alsatian village. From there, the bicycle path will lead you directly to Mulhouse, which dynamically combines tradition and modernity. This industrial and technical city awaits you with its famous automobile museum. Return by train to Colmar.

Day 6

Strasbourg 25 km

You will go to Strasbourg by train. You have the option of taking your bike on board to get off at Erstein and ride the Rhone to Rhine Canal bike path to Strasbourg. The visit of Strasbourg is easily done by bike: its historical center classified as a world heritage site, the 19th century German neighborhood, the district of the European institutions. After your day of discovery of Strasbourg, the train will take you back to Colmar.
