Technical Characteristics 

Tour Profile: Easy. You occasionally walk on asphalt roads around the villages. Otherwise the hikes trails are largely on well-maintained and easy paths. There are almost no differences in altitude, but good physical condition is required for the long stages.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Leven

Discover the small village in the bay off Edinburgh. You can get your first glimpse of the surrounding coastal landscape from the Binn hill.

Day 2

Leven – Pittenweem 20 - 22 km + 150 m – 145 m

For the first time, discover the small fishing villages and harbours in this region with this classic hiking tour along the Scottish coast. The views of the picturesque sandy beaches just before Elie are wonderful. Comfortable walk to St. Monans.

Day 3

Excursion Isle of May 4 km + 135 m - 135 m

The Isle of May thrones like an iceberg on the horizon and accompanies hikers on their first days. The island is a true natural paradise and a perfect place to observe seals, puffins and other animals. From Anstruther you reach the island, where you have the possibility of a short circular walk.

Day 4

Pittenweem – Crail 11 - 13 km + 90 m – 90 m

One village follows the other in this section. The streets of the village of Pittenweem are idyllic, while the port of Anstruther is lively. You will find the best fish and chips here by far. Continue on scenic trails to Crail.

Day 5

Crail – St. Andrews 22 km + 185 m - 185 m

The wildest section of Fife Coastal Paths takes you through sparsely populated areas. The ruins of the cathedral greet you from afar and show you the way to the golf and university town of St. Andrews over the last few kilometers.

Day 6

Tentsmuir Loop 18 km + 100 m - 100 m

Travel by bus to Leuchars and hike through the nature reserve of
Tentsmuir. You cross an idyllic forest and reach one of the most beautiful beaches of Scotland. You can catch the bus to St. Andrews from the port of Tayport.

Day 7

Departure or extension

End of tour or extra night’s stay.
